How do you deal with “one of those days”?
Yup. So it’s one of those days. You don’t feel particularly inspired by life, and nothing seems to go right. What do you do?
Here’s my story. Got up and the internet was out. Client shoot was cancelled because they were sick (get better soon!!) The weather was our awesome “blech” Seattle gray. So what did I do? I decided to go out and make the best of a lousy day and shoot with some people from UW photo club. While I was teaching some cool HDR tricks, I went to take a picture, and my thumb did this weird thing where it just twitched back and forth without doing anything, and my camera wasn’t doing anything… what happened?
OH NO!! MY CAMERA BROKE? The back button was completely missing. No idea when it happened, or where the button was, but it was just a gloomy end to a stormy day. So I decided to cheer myself up by doing what I love. Took a portrait of one of my fellow photo-walkers.
All I said was “Sassy”. Bam. Picture.
So here’s what I learned that day. Good food, good friends, and taking pictures make any day better. Also, by the time I was able to take a minute to write a blog post about it, Canon fixed my camera under warranty and sent it back to me, good as new. Well done, Canon. I applaud you on your stellar customer service.
Pretty much the best part of that day? Knowing that when everything goes wrong, people still pull through with their promises, fixing their mistakes when it truly is their mistake. It was also a nice reminder that my photo brain doesn’t turn off in the midst of adversity. Thank you photo brain.
